Slight delay does little to detract from textbook blast.
Two Gorbals tower blocks that have stood in Glasgow’s southside since the 1960s have been demolished by Birmingham-based Coleman and Company in a controlled explosion.
The 24-storey structures at 170 and 200 Sandiefield Road, in the Gorbals, were brought down on Sunday shortly after 2pm.
A large exclusion zone was set up around the flats and residents of nearby properties were evacuated ahead of the demolition — which used 228kg of explosives.
The blocks, owned by the New Gorbals Housing Association, were demolished to make way for new housing.
