HSE highlights “poor work practices”
Britain’s Health and Safety Executive has become concerned about what is apparently poor risk management during the dismantling or demolition of lifts in buildings being remodeled or demolished.
Its new safety alert says recent accident investigations, including fatalities, suggest poor work practices are common during these activities.
According to a new bulletin: “HSE is concerned about the poor management of risks involved in the dismantling or demolition of lifts in buildings due for refurbishment or demolition. Recent accident investigations, including fatalities, have suggested that poor work practices are commonplace during this activity.
This bulletin follows an accident investigation into an incident in London where a demolition worker was killed.
