Contractor pleads guilty to illegal dumping of solid waste.
A New Orleans demolition contracting company and its owner on Tuesday pleaded guilty in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court to illegally dumping solid waste at a lot in the 11300 block of Old Gentilly Road in the fall of 2010.
As part of a plea agreement with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and the Orleans Parish district attorney’s office, J&L Demolition and Dumpsters LLC was sentenced to two years of probation, was ordered to pay a criminal fine of $10,000 plus an additional $1,060 to cover the cost of prosecution, and was ordered to remove the solid waste from the dump site.
The company must remove more than 2,550 cubic yards of construction and demolition debris, enough to fill more than 250 20-cubic-yard dumpsters, and dispose of it in a properly permitted construction and demolition debris landfill.
