KDC wins big in Elstree…

Hertfordshire contract for Manchester-based demolition specialist.

Demolition and decommissioning specialist KDC has won a £1.7 million contract to rejuvenate a site of a former business centre in Hertfordshire.

KDC, which has its headquarters in Wythenshawe, Manchester has been appointed by developer Legal & General Property to carry out site clearing, demolition and land remediation work to prepare the site at Elstree, Borehamwood for future development.

KDC will undertake the demolition of several buildings including a six-storey office building and various laboratories and workshops.

Stephen Hardy, KDC energy, utilities and industrial sector director, said: “This project is going to transform the area and we’re delighted to be on board. We’ve won this project not only because of our impressive track record for getting the job done safely and effectively, but because of our plans to ensure minimal impact on the densely populated surrounding area. The site is close to commercial and residential properties, so we need to do all we can to prevent disruption to the busy local community. Alternative working hours and state of the art dust suppression equipment are just a few of the plans in place to help contain the project and ensure it runs smoothly. We’re on course for a September completion.”
