Blast containment is overrated.
Here in the West, we have grown accustomed to elegant, almost balletic images of high rise implosions; buildings collapsing slowly and gently as if fatigued, coming to rest in a tidy and orchestrated heap.
In China, as we have discovered on numerous occasions, they do things a little differently. For them, apparently, refined blast sequences and choreographed collapse is yesterday’s news. They prefer blowing the holy hell out of the middle of a structure and letting gravity do its worse. And as for blast containment, well that’s for wimps apparently:
