Truck driver killed while hauling debris from Rosenblatt Stadium contract.
A truck driver died when his vehicle tipped over and caught fire getting onto Interstate 80 at 13th Street Friday afternoon.
The dump truck was hauling debris from the demolition project at Rosenblatt Stadium. The weight in the back shifted, causing the truck to tip onto its side along the on-ramp to westbound I-80 just before 2 p.m.
The driver, 26-year-old Richard Anderson III of Council Bluffs, was trapped inside and despite the efforts of passing motorists, was unable to get out. The flames were intense because the truck’s diesel fuel spilled and the fire spread quickly.
