Another day, another demolition company with aspirations for the tunneling business.
If we had a penny for every time we’ve reported on an excavator falling into a basement, we’d have…quite a few pennies. And so, just a few days after the last incident, along comes another, although we will at least give the operator points for effort in this case.
Apparently, the operator with Hoggatt Demolition was actually looking for the basement (for future reference, it’s usually downstairs) when his machine found it in spectacular style.
Crew members stopped work on the building shortly before noon. The backhoe remained in the basement for a few hours.

Workers called in a wrecker from Runyans, but the tow truck’s services were not needed. Hoggatt employees pulled the piece of heavy equipment out of the basement of the abandoned building shortly after 1 p.m.
