Demolition company takes legal action to recoup Galveston County railroad bridge cash.
Bluegrass Bit Co. Inc. has filed suit to recoup nearly $400,000 for its work with the Galveston County railroad bridge.
Court documents filed Aug. 1 in Galveston County District Court assert that Cianbro LLC, Brasfield & Gorrie LLC and Cianbro/Brasfield & Gorrie JV owe Bluegrass $394,439 out of $520,427.48 for demolition services.
According to the original petition, the plaintiff “worked diligently and professionally for several months from April 2011 through September 2011” at the respondents’ instruction and with their knowledge, approval and assistance.
Bluegrass was hired for demolition and wire saw cutting services in relation to the construction of a new vertical lift span bridge near the Galveston Causeway.
The suit adds “the defendants were aware of Bluegrass’s work, encouraged Bluegrass to continue working and complimented Bluegrass on the quality and efficiency of its work,” further stating the complainant was reportedly ordered to do more beyond the original scope of work in exchange for payment.
