AED adds another blast to its portfolio.
International Paper in Albany imploded one of its unused paper mill buildings Sunday morning, which caused some traffic delays on Interstate 5.
The International Paper mill, just north of Albany, had an 8 a.m. demolition time set for the iconic tower that sits alongside the I-5 roadway. The building has been unused since International Paper announced massive layoffs in 2009.
The Oregon Department of Transportation closed I-5 to traffic for safety reasons during the demolition because of the tower’s proximity to the highway. The closure lasted for 10 minutes while crews demolished the building.
