Implosion marks end of era at former tractor manufacturing site.
The implosion of the AGCO Tower (see video below) finally laid to rest one of the final remnants of Britain’s once great manufacturing industry.
Although the site is now owned by AGCO, it had previously served as a Standard-Triumph car plant and, more recently, the UK home of Massey-Ferguson tractors.
We’re not normally inclined to dewy-eyed nostalgia when it comes to former factories, this one holds a special place in Demolition News’ hearts where we were regular visitors throughout the 1980s. That said, IndEx and SES did a cracking job for main contractor Cuddy Group.
