The Chartershall Bridge on Scotland’s M9 motorway was not so much an accident black spot as a magnet for overheight vehicles. Indeed, the bridge was struck by overheight vehicles no less than 17 times in its lifetime.
But with repair costs escalating, Scotland’s Transport Department finally did the humane thing and put the much-patched bridge out of its misery during an overnight demolition project that is captured in the following video:
