CDI and Brandenburg set 14 July blast date for Western Illinois University building.
A meeting with Macomb residents later today will confirm that Western Illinois University’s Wetzel Hall building will be imploded on 14 July following the successful completion of an initial test blast on 11 July.
The 13-storey hall, which opened in 1970, provided a home away from hom for some 22,000 students during its lifetime. But on Saturday 14 July, that proud history will come to an end as Controlled Demolition Inc (CDI) and demolition contractor Brandenburg bring down the block in a controlled implosion.
