One dead and three injured as 50 metre viaduct section collapses.

One person has been confirmed dead and three injured when a viaduct in East China’s Zhejiang province collapsed on Monday afternoon, local authorities announced.

The accident happened at about 2 pm in eastern Hangzhou, the provincial capital, when workers were dismantling the viaduct, according to the municipal government.

The 50-metre section which collapsed was between two piers.

More than 28 rescuers are still combing the site to find if there are more workers buried under the debris. The three injured have been sent to a local hospital.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
