Somewhere, in an equipment yard far far away, lies a wrecking ball collecting dust.
On this side of the pond, the crawler crane and wrecking ball has all but given way to the high reach excavator and hydraulic attachment. Those crawler cranes that still reside in European equipment yards are generally there as museum pieces; a relic of a bygone age.
But even in these days of air conditioned cabs and precise demolition tools, most demolition professionals can still distinguish between a wrecking ball and a bucket. Most, but not all, it appears.
For, as this tortuous video amply demonstrates, using a bucket for this kind of high-rise demolition is a little like trying to knit fog or nail jelly to the ceiling.
We’re hoping that someone will be kind enough to let us know how this video ends – We largely lost the will to live at the five minute mark!
