Attachments specialist clocks up 50 impressive years.
At a time when business failures and insolvencies are as widespread as morally corrupt comedians, it is pleasing when a company bucks the trend and celebrates an impressive longevity in an industry renowned for its boom and bust fluctuations.
Take for example ECY which has just used the Hillhead 2012 exhibition to celebrate its 50th anniversary and who were kind enough to invite DemolitionNews along to mix with the company’s customers and suppliers.
For anyone that has ever had any involvement in the UK breaker business, ECY is a name that has withstood the test of time to become a much-respected industry veteran. Little wonder. Over the years, the company has had the agency for Arrow breakers, Montabert breakers, Rammer hammers and, most recently, Furukawa breakers. Indeed, while the ECY name has stood fast, the Montabert brand was swallowed by Doosan, and the Rammer name was absorbed into Sandvik and has only just re-emerged.
Around its hydraulic breaker business, the company has assembled an impressive if somewhat unorthodox portfolio of complimentary brands ranging from the familiar La Bounty shears to the relatively young OilQuick couplers; the increasingly popular Rubblemaster compact crushers to the relatively unknown Xcentric Ripper.
OK, so having just clocked up her 60th year on the throne, Her Majesty the Queen may have ECY beaten by a full decade; but then she’s never sold a hydraulic breaker has she?
