We have long since established that – in its mad-dash to modernisation – the Chinese do things differently. In the past few years, we have seen them engulf vast swathes of their cities in dust from implosions, bulldoze homes with the residents still inside, and we have seen photos of top-down demolition being undertaken seemingly with no regard whatsoever for human life.
