On May 10, 2012, the last remaining truss of the old Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge imploded as the new bridge structure remained standing in the background.
The old bridge, ereceted in 1957 over the Pohopoco Creek in Parryville, Pennsylvania, was deemed structurally deficient. Four new prestressed concrete beam bridges were opened to traffic on November 4, 2011.
