Copenhagen countdown begins…

Brandis and Safedem making final checks ahead of Sunday’s unique implosion.

World Demolition Contractor of the Year William Sinclair of Safedem Ltd is currently making final checks ahead of Sunday’s twin implosion of two tower blocks in Copenhagen, Denmark. With more than 50 tower block implosions under his belt, the simultaneous demolition of two tower blocks is nothing new to Sinclair. But the demolition process certainly is new in Denmark and, as a result, Sinclair is expecting a big crowd of onlookers when – together with leading Danish contractor Brandis A/S – he blows the Agerkær and Ruskær blocks on Sunday.

“The implosion of the Agerkær and Ruskær blocks is a massive deal over here, both with local people and with the Danish media. I have done a bundle of interviews with newspapers and trade magazines and been on Danish national TV twice already,” he says. “Even though we have advised onlookers to stay away, Brandis and the client are estimating that we could see 25,000 people here on Sunday to watch the implosion.”

We hope to bring you more news from this unique project shortly and will, of course, aim to bring you video footage after the implosion.
