An owl’s nest could delay the implosion of twin boiler structures at a shuttered power plant near Bullhead City.

The operator of the Mohave Generating Station says it recently discovered a great horned owl nest with eggs in one of the beams.

Paul Phelan oversees the decommissioning of the plant for Southern California Edison. He tells the Mohave Valley Daily News that the utility is working with state and federal agencies to determine when the chicks that are protected under federal law can be moved.

The boilers had been scheduled to come down April 20, but Phelan says that date now is up in the air.
