150-year old bridge succumbs to shear might.
Confronted with the demolition of a steel bridge built in 1864, Dutch demolition specialist Van Leeuwen Katwijk B.V. pulled out the big guns including a Hitachi EX 1200 equipped with a Genesis GPX 2500 shear, a Cat 385 with an MBI 130 shear, and a Hitachi 750 with Verachtert SH 70 shear.
The work depicted in the video kindly provided by VLK’s Jan Hage produced around 4,000 tonnes of scrap and 12,000 tonnes of concrete.
