UK specialist contractor awards throw spotlight on demolition achievements
Last night’s Construction News Specialist Awards 2012 at London’s Park Lane Hilton provided confirmation – if it were needed – that demolition has risen above the ranks of its fellow specialist to be a true industry leader.
While the EDS Group left clutching the Demolition category trophy for the company’s impressive export achievements, it was the wins in three other key categories that proved categorically that demolition is a match for any construction-related discipline.
In the Public Sector Project Excellence category, Cuddy Group outperformed the likes of Skanska to scoop the top prize. Cantillon added the health and safety award to the World Demolition Contractor of the Year award it won in Amsterdam late last year. And Erith Group – which must now have a trophy cabinet to rival that of Manchester United – took top honours in the training category.
With McGee Group winning in the Concrete category, it was a good night for the demolition sector, and for the National Federation of Demolition Contractors which has all five winners above as members.
