More time required to hear arguments on unfinished $279 million tower implosion.
The fate of the unfinished Harmon Tower in Las Vegas won’t be decided anytime soon.
Clark County District Judge Elizabeth Gonzales has pushed the hearing back on whether to implode or repair the tower to July.
Gonzalez said she needs more time to hear arguments and dispositions from both sides. At Thursday’s hearing, the key witness for Perini Building Company, structural engineer Steve Schiller said, repairs can be made to the Harmon Tower in less than three months which would make the building earthquake safe.
The attorney for MGM Resorts International argued with the judge that Schiller was bringing up design problems that weren’t previously discussed. The casino company believes the safest solution would be to implode the building.
