BBC reports that a man was burnt in an explosion during demolition of Dorect fuel station.
A man has suffered burns to his face and chest in an explosion at a former petrol station in a Dorset village.
The man was thought to have been working at the demolition site in Iwerne Minster, near Blandford. He was taken to Salisbury hospital with potentially life changing but not life threatening injuries, police said.
Properties within 100m were evacuated. Fire crews and a hazardous materials officer are in attendance.
Hazardous materials officer Dai Jones, of Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The most important thing is to ensure that the fumes from a ruptured tank are fully dispersed and safe and to that end we have requested Dorset County Council to attend and take readings with petroleum gas monitors.”
