Former Coleman and Company high reach to tackle big post-quake demolition in Christchurch.
Christchurch’s biggest demolition job after the Canterbury earthquakes will start tomorrow.
The 21-storey PricewaterhouseCoopers building was Christchurch’s largest building by land mass, although it was not the city’s tallest building.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority said today that demolition work on the building would start tomorrow.
The joint venture between Arrow International, Nikau and Coleman and Company would take about 40 weeks to complete.
Workers would begin by stripping out the 21 floors over the next few weeks.
The top third of the building would then be demolished using the cut-and-crane method, and the last 14 floors would be demolished using a high-reach crane known as Twinkletoes.
