Infamous New York contractor pleads guilty to one of many tax charges; avoids jail
A New York demolition contractor has pleaded guilty to failing to file state tax returns on his personal income for three years.
Under the agreement, 83-year-old Philip Schwab will avoid jail time if he files several years of overdue taxes by Oct. 15.
Over his six-decade career, Schwab has been involved in the demolition work at Yankee Stadium, Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden.
He told the judge he didn’t believe he was 100 percent guilty but that he was going “to dispose of the case today.”
