Long-awaited cooling tower blast just days away.
Demolition day for the Richborough Towers has been set for Sunday 11 March.
Permission to destroy the defunct power station was granted by Thanet council in January but the blast was delayed due to concerns about power supply interruptions.
Following negotiations between developers BFL, DDS Demolition and UK Power Networks, the chimneys will now come down next weekend.
The A256 Ramsgate Road, Sandwich Road and Richborough Way will all be closed for up to an hour on the morning of the demolition.
If conditions on the day prevent the blast from going ahead, it can take place on either of the following two Sundays.
The site has been largely derelict since 1999 and developers say the 50-year-old towers are now structurally unsound. The three towers and chimney will be pulled down to make way for a green energy park on the 300-acre site.
The £750 million scheme should be built by 2016 and developers hope to create 60 full-time jobs on site.
