Parkway demolition group to face environment charges in April
A demolition company accused of operating an illegal waste site will head to a pretrial hearing on 23 April after a preliminary hearing yesterday put the case back over three months.
At the next hearing, Lisa and Terry Jones, the principle owner’s of the Jones Group and its properties, will either ask for more time, participate in a pretrial or have a resolution to the charges they face, said Hugh Dodwell an investigator with the Ministry of the Environment.
The Jones Group and its owners face six charges under Ontario’s Environmental Protect Act in relation to illegally operating a waste site and equipment from October 2010 to April without certificates of approval. The couple was charged in December and face fines between $5,000 and $4 million. The waste site is at 7809 Howard Avenue in Amherstburg.
