New excavator gets to grips with former naval fuel bunker.
Joint World Demolition Contractor of the Year Safedem has recently taken delivery of a new Liebherr R974C excavator. And the company has immediately put it to work on a demanding application – Demolishing a former naval fuel bunker at Rosyth in Scotland.
The bunker – which now resembles the Parthenon – comprised 3,780 heavily reinforced concrete columns of 1.2 metres in diameter and 16 metres tall.
The new Liebherr machine is being used to fold the columns to the ground for subsequent breaking and processing.
