When a high reach excavator batters a tower block, something had to give.
It is worth noting that the following video – which should be used as evidence by the Society for the Protection of Excavators – was posted on 26 December.
Assuming they celebrate Boxing Day in France, this might explain why an excavator operator was allowed to stage his own battle of the titans between a high reach excavator and a tower block. If his site manager hadn’t been at home quaffing wine and enjoying a well-deserved Gauloises in front of the TV, we would like to think that he’d have shouted “sacre bleu” before physically ejecting the operator from the machine cab before showing him “la porte”.
Instead, the battle ensured, pitting excavator boom welds, bushes and rams against concrete and steel. In truth, there wasn’t a winner. The machine is almost certainly sporting battle scars and the tower block fell in a dangerous and uncontrolled manner.
This video comes to us courtesy of our friends over at the High Reach Demolition website who assure us that the contractor is French giant Cardem, and certainly the white livery of the machine would support that.
