UK bids fond farewell to former record breaker.
Nothing captures the attention of the demolition masses quite like a big digger. So when we broke the news that the former UK record breaker for the biggest high reach in the country had been sold and was headed for New Zealand, it came as no great surprise when this became one of our most widely read stories of the year.
What did come as a welcome surprise, however, was the fact that the machine’s impending arrival in New Zealand as part of the post-earthquake clean-up operations would noticeably widen our readership in the country. Indeed, there have been times in the past few months when New Zealanders have made it into our top four readership countries, following hot on the heels of the US, UK and the Netherlands.
The machine has now started work with its new owners and has even earned a somewhat unlikely new nickname into the bargain.
