New video captures painstaking demolition of Christchurch’s tallest building.
It was Christchurch’s tallest building, and it was the centre of a hotly-contested bidding war among demolition companies from around the world. But now, the painstaking dismantling and deconstruction of the Hotel Grand Chancellor – New Zealand’s largest-ever demolition project – is underway.
And this new time-lapse video captures the initial work as the roof is removed from a building severely undermined by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in February of this year.
