Aircraft company to demolish jet-delivery centre.
Boeing said Friday it will demolish its jet-delivery center at Paine Field in Everett and replace it with a new “state-of-the-art facility” with three times the space.
The delivery center is where Boeing’s customers come to make final payments and pick up the keys to the big widebody jets assembled at the adjacent Everett plant.
Airlines are allocated small conference rooms for their teams of inspectors and lawyers who finalize the handover of a new airplane.
The current facility first opened in the late 1960s but was extensively remodeled five years ago.
Demolition of the current facility is expected to begin next month, and the new delivery center should open in the first quarter of 2013.
