City worker charged with stealing brass fittings, selling on to demolition company.
A Lexington man was charged Nov. 18 in Buffalo County Court on suspicion of stealing brass fittings from the city of Lexington.
According to the Kearney Police Department, Lexington city employee Juan Dominguez, 47, stole 385 pounds of red brass fittings from the city and sold them to Anderson Wrecking in Kearney in July 2011. The fittings were recovered and sold back to the city for $1,235.85.
City employees noticed that $32,000 worth of brass fittings had been stolen from the storage room at the service building and reported the theft to Lexington Police Department July 29, court records show. Lexington police contacted Anderson Wrecking and an employee said Dominguez had recently sold fittings matching the description of those that were stolen.
