Worker dies at former Cadbury site
A worker has died in a suspected accident at the former Cadbury factory in Keynsham.
Police were called to reports of a sudden death involving a digger at the site at 5.30pm yesterday. The man is said to have died instantly after apparently plunging around 100ft while working on a “small mechanical digger”.
Safety concerns meant his body was not recovered until today when emergency crews returned to the scene to carry out the operation. The man is believed to be from Wales and is aged in his 20s or 30s.
The Health and Safety Executive are now investigating and a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said they were “keeping an open mind” about the circumstances of the incident.
A spokeswoman for the HSE said that they attended on Wednesday and are working with the police to examine the scene.
