The universal language of demolition…

Our good friend and Brazilian master blaster Fabio Bruno paid his first visit to London earlier this week. And DemolitionNews took the opportunity to show him the sites (and no, that’s not a spelling mistake).

In advance of his visit, Fabio called and asked if we could arrange a site visit so that he could see first-hand just how demolition is done in the UK. A quick call to David Darsey, managing director of world demolition contractor of the year Erith Group and we were all set.

So, after a very nice dinner with Fabio and IDE president John Woodward, DemolitionNews and Fabio headed for Victoria where Erith is undertaking a very tricky demolition project immediately behind the Victoria Palace Theatre where the musical Billy Elliot continues to play to packed houses eight times per week.

Erith’s Andy Lester gave us a great guided tour, and Fabio was clearly impressed by the Safety 24:7 approach on the site.

Fabio and David Darsey are now heading for Amsterdam where they’re both shortlisted in this Friday’s Demolition Awards, thankfully in separate categories.
