Video – Reporter miscalculates implosion timing…

Is he ducking for cover or merely preserving the camera shot?

The timing of a building implosion can be a flexible feast. So long as they’re not timed to coincide with a specific road or rail possession, a few minutes either way to take advantage of a drop in the wind or other window of opportunity is not unusual. Just ask the WGN news anchors covering this bridge implosion.

But this fact was clearly not relayed to this news reporter who announces that a building will drop in five minutes, only to hear the blast behind him.

Judging by his somewhat laboured reaction, we can only assume that he was attempting to give the camera crew a clear shot of the building and that he wasn’t diving for cover.
