Demolition makes way for new deserts and forests exhibit.
It’s Friday afternoon and the following story is of no major significance in global demolition terms. But how could we possibly resists that headline?
The Chattanooga Zoo began the demolition process Thursday to make way for the new Deserts and Forests of the World exhibit, set to open next spring. The Misunderstood Marvels building, which is home the Zoo’s snakes, lizards, amphibians and spiders was brought to the ground, as well as the raccoon and cockatoo cages, which were the only two cages left from the original Warner Park Zoo.
“History was made yesterday when the last remaining structures of the original zoo were demolished to make way for the new Deserts and Forests of the World complex,” said Zoo Executive Director, Darde Long. “Watching the removal of the last vestiges of the old Warner Park Zoo certainly causes us to reflect on the tremendous renaissance that has occurred at our Zoo, thanks to a generous and dedicated community.”
