Worker falls 40 feet at Rhode Island demolition site
A man working on the demolition of a Providence nightclub has been hospitalized after falling 40 feet down an elevator shaft.
Providence fire Capt. William Kenyon says the 31-year-old man was removing debris from the roof at the former Shooters nightclub when he fell.
Kenyon says the man fell through the roof and landed on top of the elevator car on the first floor. A Department of Transportation spokesman says the injured man works for Patriot Disposal.
Kenyon says the man was conscious and alert. He added the worker suffered injuries to his legs. His is being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
