Is AED in line for Ohio mill blast?
The former ConAgra mill at the mouth of the Huron River could go out with a bang.
Huron City Council will consider hiring Ed Burdue & Co. LLC to fell the remaining mill building and concrete grain silos at the site.
The demolition could include an implosion in which a subcontractor would use controlled explosions so the structures collapse inward. Reports indicate that the company has already been in discussion with Advanced Explosive Demolition (AED).
The city has a Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund grant with more than $1.45 million for the job and Ed Burdue & Co. bid about $1.01 million.
