A timely look back at how things used to be.
Within the next week or so, the National Federation of Demolition Contractors will unveil a new book charting its 70 year history that began in the war time Blitz on London. One of the key characters involved in the formation if the Federation was Scottish contractor Samuel B Allison, great uncle of current United Nations demolition engineer David Sinclair, and great, great uncle of Safedem managing director and NFDC vice president William Sinclair.
So, with perfect timing, William Sinclair has directed us to a video showing Her Majesty The Queen meeting Sam Allison during a trip to Scotland, presumably in the 1950s. Not only is this a great glimpse of one of the Federation’s founding fathers, it also provides great insight into the demolition methods used to make way for the very buildings that William Sinclair is now imploding.
