Resident takes extreme measures to deal with rats flushed out of nearby demolition site.
According to local newspaper reports, residents in Tyneside are fighting back against a rat infestation supposedly caused by nearby demolition works. Rats have allegedly been found in kitchen drawers, airing cupboards and under floorboards in houses in Scotswood, Newcastle.
Now families have resorted to all kinds of methods to get rid of them including ferrets, cats and even a pet python.
IT Technician Malcolm Furness (pictured) said he found six rats in his house which he has fed to his two pet snakes.
“My royal pythons loved them,” says Furness, who also keeps a bearded dragon lizard, giant snails, two geckoes and a tarantula.
“One of them is 5ft now and getting a bit too big – perhaps because of all the rats,” he said.
