UK contractor falls victim to arsonists on fire-damaged Coventry site.
A UK contractor demolishing an arson-hit row of flats in Coventry have had to call in a specialist security firm after its 20-tonne excavator was torched.
Since CMEC Demolition moved on to the site just a week ago they have been subjected to an almost constant stream of thefts and vandalism. Trespassers have even broken into the derelict block of flats they plan to demolish twice.
On Tuesday night arsonists broke in to the site again, totally destroying a hydraulic excavator.
Yesterday company bosses said the incidents meant they would be bringing in security firm to protect the site during the three-month demolition process.
