Just a few weeks ago we reported on the dismantling of the former Space Shuttle launchpad, effectively marking the end of the US participation in the space race. And now comes news that a similar – though rather more explosive fate – has claimed the Ariane 4 launch platform and umbilical tower in French Guyana.
