Last ditch attempt to save Billingham House…

Property owner takes legal steps to halt demolition of former ICI HQ.

A last ditch legal bid has been launched to block the demolition of derelict Billingham House.

A judicial review last month gave Stockton Council the go-ahead to raze the former ICI headquarters on Belasis Avenue.

The legal ruling brought an end to a long-running saga over the future of the building, which fell into disrepair after being left empty for more than six years.

Now Bizzy B, the property company which owns Billingham House, has lodged a legal bid to stop the demolition.

The London-based firm has applied for leave to appeal the High Court ruling which said Stockton Council was legally entitled to demolish the ten-storey landmark.

It is also seeking an injunction to halt work at the site.
