Man hurt during explosive demolition…

30-year old man in critical condition after being struck by fly rock.

Police in Howard County said a man was seriously injured Tuesday when he was hit by a flying piece of rock during an explosives demolition.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Howard County police said Jimmy McElroy, 30, was injured during the incident at a construction site in the Walnut Grove development on Watkins Bridge Lane in Clarksville around 10:30 a.m.

Police said McElroy was conducting the explosives demolition when he was hit in the stomach by a flying rock.

He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

The investigation into the incident continues.
