Implosion goes to plan but elevator shaft withstands the blast.
Advanced Explosive Demolition demonstrated all its experience in this weekend’s implosion of the Keystone Towers in Indianapolis; not just in the blast itself but also in the careful management of expectations.
Prior to the long-awaited blast, the company had suggested that an elevator shaft might remain standing once the dust settled on an otherwise textbook blast. And so it did.
“Today’s implosion was absolutely fantastic,” said AED’s Lisa Kelly immediately after the blast. “We already knew the elevator shaft was going to be left standing, due to the fact the engineer did not feel comfortable with us pre-weakening it any further than we had.”
