Crew discovers secret safe during casino demolition…

Demolition workers uncover locked safe hidden in casino walls.

Demolition crews tearing down “Bill’s” casino in South Lake Tahoe, discovered a locked safe hidden within the walls on the second floor of the building.

It is unclear how old the four-foot tall, black safe is, but “Bill’s” owner Mike Laub said the building dates back to the late 1960’s.

“It’s fascinating. It’s not just a safe, in light of the historical perspective,” developer and retired Reno attorney Mike Laub said Friday of the three-story building he’s remaking into a CVS pharmacy, a site for a Dotty’s casino outlet and other businesses.
So far, a combination obtained from the safe’s manufacturer hasn’t worked, he said. Nor has a boastful safecracker managed to open it as the safe’s handle appears broken.
