One big pull fells 30 metre steel structure.
We haven’t see camera work this shaky since we tried to film ourselves doing Beyonce’s Single Ladies dance moves. But hey, who wouldn’t be excited when a 30 metre tall steel silo is about to hit the ground.
As about two dozen people looked under a roasting sun, welders from Ahrens Contracting Inc. cut through the bottom of the metal containers. They employed a trick lumbermen use, slicing a wedge in the front so the silos would fall forward.
One by one, each of the four containers slammed onto the gravel parking lot, like some downed behemoth. A depository generations of Columbia area farmers used to store grain was scrap metal.
