Bridge comes full circle as original builder carries out demolition.
The Los Angeles Times has a time lapse video of the entire Mulholland Bridge demolition from start to finish. Appropriately, the video is set to “Flight of the Bumble Bee” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Kiewit Infrastructure West company’s 36 hour demolition time, completed well before the Monday July 18 deadline, earned them a $300,000 bonus. The city of Los Angeles also saved an additional $400,000, even taking into account Kiewit’s bonus, reports the Associated Press.
Kiewit, who was contracted to carry out the demolition, is actually the same company that built the original Mulholland Bridge.
