Acquittal over Deutsche Bank fire…

$5,000 fine for company embroiled in blaze that killed two firefighters.

A construction supervisor and a reputedly mob-linked business were acquitted Wednesday in the deaths of two firefighters inside the doomed Deutsche Bank building.

The verdicts in the bench trial cleared Mitchel Alvo and demolition contractor the John Galt Corp. – and delivered another blow to the reeling Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

The business was found guilty of misdemeanor reckless endangerment by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller – which defense attorney David Wikstrom said would likely mean a $5,000 fine.

But Uviller found Alvo and the company not guilty of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
